How we test AI visibility

Transparent method, so you can repeat it yourself.

1. Write the customer question. We phrase a natural UK query: 'Who are the best [trade] in [town]?'
2. Ask four assistants live. We send it to ChatGPT (with web search), Google Gemini, Perplexity and Anthropic Claude through their official APIs.
3. Detect the business. We check each answer for the business name and website, allowing for small spelling differences.
4. Score. Each assistant scores 0-100 by whether and how high the business is named; the overall score is the average.
5. Record competitors. We log which businesses were named instead, so owners see who AI prefers.

Limits

AI answers change between runs, days and accounts. A score is a snapshot, not a ranking guarantee. We re-test after every fix and monthly for monitoring clients.
